Long-Term Visit Pass Application
WHAT IS A LONG-TERM VISIT PASS?
Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) is for the common-law spouse, step-child or handicapped child of eligible Employment Pass or S Pass holders who wish to live and stay in Singapore. Parents can be brought also if the EP or S Pass holder is earning $12,000.
LTVP is tied to the validity of the main work pass. Eligible DP holders may be able to work in Singapore if they find jobs.
LTVP holders can work in Singapore if a job offer is received. The prospective employer can apply for an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit and must meet all the criteria for the pass that the employer is applying for
GUIDE BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE APPLICATION OF A LONG-TERM VISIT PASS
1. Know the eligibility and requirements
Employment Pass and S Pass holders can bring certain family members and apply for Long-Term Visit Pass if all of the following requirements are met:
| Main work pass | Requirements to apply for Long-Term Visit Pass | Who can get the LTVP |
| Employment Pass and S Pass holders |
|
|
2. Prepare the documents before the application
The following are the basic set of documents required to apply for LTVP. Additional documents may be requested by MOM when they review the application.
| Family Member | Documents required |
| Common-law spouse |
Any one of the following:
|
| Unmarried handicapped children above 21 years of age |
|
| Unmarried stepchildren under 21 years of age |
|

|
Where a document is in a foreign language, the document must be translated into the English language.
3. Apply for the Pass
The employer or the appointed employment agency may apply for the pass on behalf of the foreigner. The application must be submitted online to the MOM portal and will be processed within 3 weeks or may take longer if additional information or documents will be required by MOM.
Dependants of Employment Pass (Sponsorship), PEP or EntrePass holders will be within 8 weeks for most cases or may take longer if additional information or documents will be required by MOM.
4. Bring the foreigner into Singapore and get the pass issued
The foreigner can enter Singapore once the In-Principle Approval (IPA) from MOM is received. The IPA gives the foreigner 6 months (for dependents of EP holder) and 2 months (for dependents of S Pass holder) to enter Singapore and get the pass issued. Do note that the foreigner must be in Singapore to get the pass issued.
After the issuance, the notification letter (valid for 1 month from the date of issue) allows the foreigner to travel in and out of Singapore while waiting for the pass card to be received. The notification letter states if the foreigner needs to have a fingerprint and photo taken for card registration.
The following information and documents are needed to get the pass issued:
-
Foreigner's passport details
-
Foreigner's Singapore contact details
-
Foreigner's current Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP) or immigration pass details
-
Foreigner's Singapore residential address, which must meet the housing requirements
-
Singapore residential or office address to receive the foreigner’s card
-
Details of up to 3 authorised recipients to receive the card (their mobile number, email address and NRIC number / FIN/passport number)
The PDF copies of these documents may also need to be uploaded:
-
Foreigner's passport page showing the date of arrival in Singapore
-
Completed medical examination form or medical declaration form
-
Completed declaration form (attached to the foreigner’s IPA letter)
5. Register fingerprints and photo
Check the notification letter whether you are required to have your fingerprints and photo registered. If required, an appointment must be made to visit Employment Pass Services Centre (EPSC) for the registration within 2 weeks (for EP dependents) and within 1 week (for S Pass dependents) after the pass is issued.
The foreigner should bring along these documents for the appointment:
-
Original passport
-
Appointment letter
-
Notification letter
6. Receive the card
The card will be delivered to the given address 4 working days after the foreigner registers and gets the documents verified.
The authorised recipients will get an SMS or email with the delivery details at least 1 working day before the delivery.
After 2 unsuccessful deliveries, the card must be collected personally from MOM within 3 working days after the second attempted delivery.
POST-APPLICATION STEPS (if required)
1. Notify MOM of any changes in the LTVP holder’s particulars
Sponsoring company or main work pass holder must notify MOM under these circumstances:
-
Change in residential address or contact details
-
Change in personal particulars
2. Renew an Employment Pass
Application to renew a Long Term Visit Pass can be submitted to MOM up to 6 months before it expires.
For dependents of Employment Pass (sponsorship) and Entrepass holders, the application to renew can be started when the renewal forms are received in the mail, 3 months before the pass expires. The application has to reach MOM at least 2 months before the pass expires.
Important notes about the renewal of employment pass
-
LTVP can be renewed up to 6 months before the pass expires.
-
The duration of renewed pass is tied to the main pass holder’s pass or up to the duration requested, whichever is shorter.
-
Renewals are not guaranteed. Applications will be evaluated against current eligibility criteria.
-
When the renewal is missed and the pass expires, a new pass is needed to be applied.
Submit the renewal early
The employer or the appointed employment agency may submit the renewal. The application will be done online through EP Online portal. This service is available for 24 hours. Typically online renewals are processed by MOM within 3 weeks (for more cases) or may take longer if additional information or documents will be required by MOM.
Renew by post for dependants of EP (sponsorship) and Entrepass holders: within 8 weeks for most cases.
After the renewal
If the renewal was successful:
An In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter which is valid for 3 months (for EP dependents) and 2 months (for S Pass dependents) will be received.
Proceed to issue the pass before the IPA or current pass expires, whichever occurs first. The duration of the renewed pass will start when the current pass expires.
After the pass is issued
Check the notification letter to see whether the pass holder will continue using the existing card or get a new card. If the pass holder needs to get a new card, the old card must be cut in half and discarded to prevent misuse after the new card has been received.
3. Replacement of a Long-Term Visit Pass card
In case of a lost, stolen, or damaged pass card, the pass holder must apply for a replacement within 1 week.
The application for the replacement of the LTVP card will be done online through EP Online portal.
If the request is approved, print the card replacement letter for the instructions on collecting the replacement card.
The replacement card can be collected 4 working days after the approval. An appointment is not needed for card collection.

A request for a short visit pass (STVP) is needed if the pass holder is still in Singapore after the cancellation. The pass holder needs to show the STVP and a valid passport to the immigration officer when leaving Singapore.
-
If the pass holder has left Singapore permanently, the LTVP must be cancelled within 1 week from the departure date, unless it has expired.
