Registered Office of Company

From the date of incorporation, the company must provide a registered office within Singapore where all communications and notices to the company are addressed, and where the company’s registers and records are kept.

Registered Office Addresses must:

Be an address in Singapore but it does not need to be the same place of business operations.
Be open and accessible to the public for at least three hours during ordinary business hours on each business day. A business day is any day except Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. P.O. Box is not accepted.

Companies and directors who are in default may be fined up to S$5,000 and also to a default penalty.

Update or Change of Registered Office Address

The company must ensure that it remains reachable and can continue to receive correspondence from government agencies, business partners, and stakeholders. Any change of registered office must be notified and lodged to ACRA within 14 days from the date.

Home Office Scheme

This scheme allows homeowners, registered occupants, or tenants of HDB flats or private residential property to operate a small-scale office in their homes, subject to the prevailing conditions of use.

Subject to the approval of the Housing Development Board (HDB), you can use your HDB flat or private residential property to run the administrative functions of a business and hire up to two non-resident employees.

The property must remain as a place of residence at all times. Business activities must be confined within the flat and should not cause discomfort to your neighbours.

If you wish to use your HDB flat or private residential address as the registered office of the company, approval must be first granted by HDB or URA before you can submit the application for incorporation of the company.

If you are not the owner of the property, you must obtain written consent from the owner before you register for Home Office use.

Home-based Business Scheme

You may carry out small-scale home-based business activities in your HDB flat to supplement your income, without requiring approval from HDB.

Your flat must still primarily be used for residential purposes, and business activities must not cause discomfort to your neighbours. If failed to comply with the conditions of use, you must cease operations or relocate your business operations to other premises, such as commercial units.

Home-based business activities permitted by HDB

Food business such as baking on a small scale
Hairdressing, facial and beauty (excluding massage), manicure, or pedicure services
Private tuition for not more than three students at a time
Sewing services
Work as a freelance artist, journalist, photographer or writer

Note: Massage services are not allowed on residential premises.
